The tour of Lake Ceresio is different from the others, because in many places there are steep walls of rock overlooking the lake, and the road necessarily continues away from the water front, trough the valleys and fields. Therefore, the water is not always visible from the road.
From Moto Varese KTM bike and Motorbike shop and rental (free pick up at Malpensa Airport), enter Switzerland trough the Gaggiolo border, then procede towards Mendrisio, following the main road (this part is an example of road running far from the waterfront).
We recommend to visit the beautiful village of Morcote (see tour A.3-optional detour 2), then to continue northwards towards Lugano, and further north towards Porlezza via Gandria.
In Porlezza you can fit into tour B.1, going to Lanzo D’Intelvi (turning around the tip of the lake and going southwards, along the eastern shore of the lake), then proceeding in the valley towards Maroggia, and, further south, back to Riva S. Vitale.
At this point you can go to Porto Ceresio (see tour A.3, option 1), then back to Varese.
